Outcome Cards

Creating your Outcome Card

The Outcome Card is a powerful tool for achieving your goals.

Step 1: Clarify your Outcome

  • Choose a specific, measurable goal
  • The goal should stretch you without being beyond your reach
  • It should be a goal you can move towards, not away from. Not, "I want to lose 50 pounds," but "I want to weigh X or less."

Step 2: Choose a Target Date

  • It should be close enough you can taste it
  • Don't make it so far away that you can push off action
  • Consider smaller goals with more aggressive timeframes over large goals with long timeframes

Step 3: Identify Actionable Steps

  • Use specific, measurable language in your steps. "I will run 30 minutes a day" over "I will exercise more."
  • Steps usually evolve over time, so don't worry about getting them perfect day one
  • At first, it's enough if they get you closer to the goal, even if they're not strong enough at first to reach the goal

Step 4: Read Your Card Daily

  • Read it first thing in the morning to set your intentions for the day
  • Read it immediately before bed
  • Read it 1-3 additional times during the day

Step 5: Revise Your Card

  • Are some steps ineffective? Scrap them
  • Did you come up with new ideas? Add them
  • Can you spice up the language to be more motivating?

Step 6: Celebrate Victories

  • Rewarding yourself for hitting your goals builds momentum
  • Even if you miss a goal, celebrate what went well
  • Did others support you in your goal? Include them in your celebration

Continual Growth Cards

Creating your Continual Growth Card

The Continual Growth Card helps you consistently improve an area of your life

Step 1: Clarify an Area for Continual Growth

  • Unlike Outcome Cards, the goal need not be specific and measurable.
  • Rather than "I want to weigh 150 lbs or less," you can use "I want to continually improve my physical health"
  • There is no target date for Continual Growth Cards. Keep your card as long as it serves you

Step 2: Identify Measurable, Actionable Steps

  • Since the goal is not specific and measurable, your action steps must be. For example, "I will run half an hour a day, five day a week."
  • Action Steps can have target dates
  • Action steps can be milestones. For example, "I will run a six-minute mile by June 1."

Step 3: Read Your Card Daily

  • Read it first thing in the morning to set your intentions for the day
  • Read it immediately before bed
  • Read it 1-3 additional times during the day

Step 4: Revise Your Card

  • Are some steps ineffective? Scrap them
  • Did you come up with new ideas? Add them
  • Can you spice up the language to be more motivating?
  • Has your goal changed at all? Since there is no deadline with Continual Growth Cards, you must be more rigorous in editing them

Step 6: Celebrate Victories

  • Rewarding yourself for hitting your goals builds momentum
  • Since Continual Growth goals have no end dates, celebrate milestones
  • If you narrowly miss a milestone, still celebrate what went well
  • Did others support you in your goal? Include them in your celebration

Identity Cards

Creating your Identity Card

The Identity Card helps you build self-confidence and self-love

Step 1: Identify Traits you want to Strengthen

  • What qualities do you appreciate about yourself?
  • What qualities do you appreciate in others?
  • What qualities do you want to have, but struggle to perceive in yourself?
  • Ask others what they see in you. You might be surprised

Step 2: Read your Card Before the Mirror Daily

  • Look yourself in the eyes and say, "I love you, (insert name here)"
  • Keep eye contact as you go through each trait

Step 3: Create a Catchy Nickname for each Trait

  • Choose names that have emotional charge
  • Can you think of names that make you laugh? That make you proud?
  • Be creative and playful. You don't have to share the nicknames with anyone, so don't hold back

Step 4: State how you Embody that Trait

  • Each time you read the card, come up with three examples for each trait
  • Ask others for examples
  • As much as possible, try to think of new examples each time

Step 5: Revise Your Card

  • New, amazing qualities will reveal themselves over time. Add them!
  • As your self-perception changes, so will your nicknames

Step 6: Celebrate Victories

  • Creating and reading the Identity Card is itself a victory. Reward Yourself!
  • As you discover beauty in yourself, you'll see more of it in others. Share with them what you see

Mastermind

Use the Power of the Mastermind

Masterminds harness the brain power of multitudes

Many Brains are Better than One

  • Hashing out your ideas with others will expand your perspective and your options
  • The very process of working together in a creative space can help you think broader
  • Learn from each member's struggles and victories

Bring Multiple Disciplines Together

  • Bring together individuals with expertise in different areas
  • Others may see your issue from a completely different angle
  • What are all the areas you need to strengthen? Can you find someone with experience in each to Mastermind with?

Seek Out Experts and Mentors

  • Mastermind partners can be paid experts, they don't need to be peers
  • Find experts in whatever area you want to grow

Don't Neglect the Power of Teaching

  • Teaching others can be a great way of reinforcing lessons
  • Consider having Mastermind partners on your level, more advanced, and more junior (though not necessarily in the same group)

Exercises Can Stretch You Even Further

  • Look up Mastermind exercises you can run with your group
  • Some of our favorites include goal writing and brainstorming exercises

Step 6: Celebrate Victories

  • Share your victories within your Mastermind Groups
  • Celebrate each others victories
